It’s November, which means it’s that time of year when we traditionally take time to acknowledge all the things we are thankful for – family, friends, those we love and cherish. We wanted to take the time to thank and acknowledge all of the amazing Curators and the tremendous work they all do to help the Geni community. We’re calling November “Curator Appreciation Month.” Have you ever asked a Curator for help with your family tree?… Read the full story
Greetings, I wanted to write in, in an effort to Honor our Curators. I am not so much interested in a free subscription, as I am to take time to acknowledge the good works of your Curator team overall. If you will notice, I have listed a few Curator names. I have not listed all who have suggested help, pointed me in the right direction, etc. I do not want to leave anyone out who has helped… Read the full story
When you need something done, Erica is your go-to-girl. Before the initiation of curators, we first started collaborating when I posted a distress note that I had merged the Mayflower passengers on my tree, and created a TOTAL mess. There were duplicates of around 20 for each person, and I was discouraged. Erica responded, and with the help of others, began the ardent task of unraveling the huge disarray of this historic tree. While I… Read the full story
On August 8, 2008 I joined Geni. I was very fortunate to have substantial amount of family information gathered by my aunt (Ruth H. Ashworth (Stevens) in the 1940’s and 50’s the old fashion way by mail. Some of my Great Great Aunts and Grandfather were still alive at that time. These boxes of information were then assembled and complied into a 150 page bound book in 1990 by my cousins brother in law, Richard… Read the full story
Hi, Geni community! Christmas time is coming nearer and Geni team remainds me of the “Curators Appreciation Month”. I like to appreciate Curator Jaak Tulp. Jaak has helped me in several times, when I have made errors in my family tree with my ancestors. Jaak knows very well the computer and he knows all about Geni. I appreciate the circumstance that he commands Germany perfectly (besides other languages). Jaak takes part in Geni as a… Read the full story
Fred does his best to personally welcome so many new Geni members in their own language that i’m sure many think he is part of the official welcoming committee! Fred was very helpful giving me good advice on building my Dutch family tree and is a shining example of how well Geni’s collaborative system can work when new members are greeted with a human voice. We’re happy to announce our fourth Curator Appreciation Month Winner! Congratulations John Hersey! We hope you enjoy your free 6-month subscription of Geni Pro! Thank you for sharing your great experience with Curator Lea Herbst! Check out his story below: I found an incorrect link in my mothers genealogy that was prepared for her in 1976 by a researcher. We’re happy to announce last week’s Curator Appreciation Month winner, Kathleen Marie Puckett (Rose)! Kathleen just won a free 6-month subscription to Geni Pro! Thanks for sharing your amazing experiences with German Curator Tobias Rachor. Read her story below: Tobias Rachor (Deutscher Kurator) is always willing to help. I do not read or speak German. Tobias has cited many, many facts from Norbert Schmitt (Pfarrer in Neunkirchen), Neunkirchener Familienbuch 1685 – 1910. German facts that… Read the full story
As I’ve grown older I have become interested in my family ancestory. I cannot afford a long term monthly fee to trace this. When I first started on Geni June Barnes helped me with tree merges and Darlene Poppe gave me direction and information as well. Without their help I would not have been able to find the information I have nor learn the interesting and extensive history of my family. It’s still a work… Read the full story
