MRS. C. SUSHAMES
The death occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs Whitehouse, Pine Road, Penguin, on Wednesday, of Mrs. Caroline Sushames, widow of the late Mr. John
Sushames. She was born at Norfolk, England 90 years ago. and came to Australia on the sailing ship Southern Eagle, when 3 years of age, with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Spinks. They resided at Don for five years and then moved to the Penguin district, where Mrs. Sushames lived till the time of her death.
She leaves a family of four daughters and six sons. They are Edith (Mrs. Crawford, South Riana), Maud (Mrs. Whitehouse, Penguin), Gertrude (Mrs. Whitehouse, Upper Castra), Louie (Mrs. Dobson, Riana), Louis (Cuprona), Charles (Burnie) Ernest (Natone), Jack (Riana), and Allie and Anthony (Burnie).
The funeral took place at the Penguin cemetery on Friday. There was a large
attendance, and Rev. N. Pask conducted service at the home and graveside.
The chief mourners were the sons, two daughters (Mrs. A. Crawford and Mrs. A.
Whitehouse), and brothers (Messrs. Elijah and Allan Spinks).
Included in the large number of floral tributes were wreaths from the Upper
Burnie Homing Society and Penguin Methodist Church
