Login problem

Not sure if this is the right place to get support but I didn't find any other place.

I installed Sync for Geni 2011.6.29, but when I provide my credentials and hit "Log in", the system hangs on "Please wait while we authenticate you" forever (with the rolling circle).

I am sure my credentials are OK (I login with them to Geni).

Just for experiment, I tried giving a wrong password, but it also hangs in the same place (I don't get an error message)

Pls help!

I don't understand why the browser settings are related. Sync for Geni is a standalone application, not a WEB one.

Nevertheless, I have no problem working with whatever browser and setting whatever setting as long as it will cause Sync for Geni to work. I just tried again and it's still stuck on "Please wait while we authenticate you".

Currently I work mainly with IE 8.

When I first installed it, I had to adjust my firewall to let it through. I use Norton 360 and it thought the Ancestor Sync program was acting suspicious. You might have a similar issue.

I did verify that I can still logon today in Ancestor Sync although once I do, it doesn't find any individuals to download. Unfortunately it seems to be hit or miss when it actually works, but that's how using a Beta version is sometimes.

Shlomo Wygodny, Michelle Lynn McKenzie, Yaacov Glezer AncestorSync is going down for a few days while we resolve some API issues. Something went really array and so we're working on all the new endpoints. We will email you the moment AncestorSync is working again. You'll also have some new goodies go go along with it.

Thanks. I just downloaded it yesterday and was very excited at the prospect.... found it frustrating that I couldn't even sign in. I'd suggest you take it down until you get it to a point where folks can test :)

AncestorSync for Geni is back up and working again. At this time we are still using the old version of the Geni API. As such we do not have the speed improvements yet. Over the next month drastic improvements and adding quite a few goodies. Look forward to it. Thank you.

I just downloaded my beta yesterday, I am having the same spinning login authenticating problem. Is there anything I should try? I don't know much about my firewalls etc. but I'll look into that. Can't get past the login. Thanks much!

is there a new version to download - i have not gotten anything lately - all others would grind away for hours on end and do nothing so gave up on it for now - been busy adding cleaning up files - etc. has to be a beter way than all this hand data entering - - -

The newest version of Geni's API (v1) has been successfully deployed and we have upgraded our interaction with that API. You can use the same AncestorSync program and it will full work. Sorry for the delay, we had to wait for it to be deployed!

Geni has also given us some extra values in their API that will speed up interaction a ton. We're working on that. We also have a bunch of awesome surprises coming next week. So look forward to a new build with drastic improvements!

I have lost my login.downlod to it since it was nto workign for me would like to re-try see if it will work for me - i am not 'techy' and if it does not work...
