Hugh McCorquodale was born on 1 April 1898. He was the son of Harold McCorquodale and Grace Granville. He married Mary Barbara Hamilton Cartland, daughter of Major Bertram Cartland and Mary Hamilton Scobell, on 28 December 1936 at Guildhall, London, England. He died on 29 December 1963 at age 65.
Hugh McCorquodale was educated at Harrow School, Harrow on the Hill, London, England.
He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.
He gained the rank of officer in the service of the Cameron Highlanders.
He was decorated with the award of Military Cross (M.C.)
