This would substantiate that James & Ann had a son named James.
BIOGRAPHY: According to his son's (Alexander), diary, he moved from NC to IN with brothers, Archie & John, and 2 brothers-in-law named Hill; he remained in IN while the others moved to Crawford Co, IL.
BIOGRAPHY: From Esther Watts: Information from diary dated 29 Mar 1892 by Alexander H. Boyd, written in Marion, Grant Co, IN: "My father was Adam Boyd, born in Guilford County, N. Carolina. My father's father was James Boyd. He was of Scottish parentage, four brothers having emigrated from Scotland to America in an early day. They were Presbyterians. My father, in company with his brothers, Archie and John, and two brothers-in-law named Hill, came to Indiana. The two older brothers, Archie and John, and the Hill brothers went on to Crawford Co., Illinois."
