Adolph George Sorenson Adolph was born September 17, 1891 in a small house on Main Street, Corry, Pa., Erie County to Soren Christian Sorenson and Jensene Oleson Sorenson who had been in the United States only a short time. Paternal Grandparents Niels Andreas and Matti Sorenson; Maternal Grandparents Ole Christian Christensen and Ane Elisabeth Jensdatter Christensen (Frost). First his mother (Jensene) stayed back in Denmark and his father (Soren) came a year ahead. Adolph attended school in Corry. .When just a young man, he and Harry Spencer went west. After he returned, he married Melissa Belle Carter, March 17, 1913. Melissa was born February 2, 1895, to John and Emma (Doud) Carter in Bear Lake, Pa.. Melissa was a descendant of Jesse Doud, a hero of the American Revolution. Adolph and Melissa lived on West South Street near the movie house, later they built a home on West Smith Street. Adolph worked for the Aero Supply Co.. Later he owned a paint store. Jensene lived with Adolph for awhile and raised Jeannette. Later Adolph married Mrs. Mildred Bloss, December 18, 1936. Mildred was born on June 17, 1903. Melissa died February 7, 1948. She married Ed Miller in 1933 in Chautaugua county, NY.. As Adolph's health began to fail, he tried to repair clocks and watches. He was bed ridden in his home on Spring Street for some time and died there April 4, 1949 from Coronary Thrombosis related to the effects of Rheumatic Fever. The funeral was held in the Bracken Funeral Home and he is buried on the east side of Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry, Pa.. Adolph and Melissa had 3 children, Helen Evelyn, born September 18, 1913; Gladys Gilbertabelle, born October 9, 1914; Jeannette Pauline, born March 21, 1919. Mildred Bloss has 2 daughters prior to her marriage to Adolph, Clarabelle, born September 9, 1920, died April 19, 1992; Barbara Ann, born December 28, 1933. Mildred was a helper to the elderly around Corry. She married Ross Mead in the Clymer Methodist Church in 1975. The reception was held in the Ross Mead home. Adolph and Mildred owned a camp on Spring Creek where the Sorenson family often held their reunion. Ross worked to make the cabin more livable but didn't live to see it completed. Mildred spent her later years in an apartment over Barbara. Ross died on June 26, 1978 and is buried beside his first wife. Mildred took care of Vera Sorenson during the Spring and Summer months of 1985 and 1986. She also helped Harold Randall at times.
