

'Alfred enlisted in the AIF on 19/06/1918 in Moonie Ponds., aged 33 years 4 months. He named his wife Maysel Earle Dawe as his next of kin.He and his brother Albert are both noted as ANZACS from Linton in "Mapping Our ANZACS' Service # 7488 WW1 File B2455, Dawe, A.B. Unit 25/5ths RFTS After the war he took up a soldier settlement farm in Turton's Creek, Gippsland. His marriage to Maysel had longstanding serious issues. He and Maysel separated with both moving to inner suburban Melbourne-Maysel in custody of the children. He maintained contact with his children during his life.
