Alice Cushman Shipley

NOTE: This is my son-in-law Darren Few's line and is descended from Wood, Davis, Spencer-which is related to William Spencer Churchill and Thomas West, 3rd Baron de la Warre, for whom Delaware is named. Another ancestor is Catherine Carey, daughter of Mary Boleyn Carey-sister of Ann Boleyn. In fact, Catherine may be the daughter of Henry VIII as Mary was his mistress before he married Ann. There is also descent from the Clan Douglas of Scotland, including Jame 'the Good' Douglas who fought with our cousin Robert the Bruce. Wedding announcement in the the paper-clipping-presumably from the local paper. ALICE SHIPLEY WEDS F.W. KING BEDFORD, May 29--Dr. and Mrs. James A. Gere Shipley announce the marriage of their daugher Alice Cushman to Francis William King on May 29 at their home in Bedford. Dr. Shipley officiated at his daughter's marriage. She was attended by her sister Mrs. James Lester Shipley, of Abingdon and James Lester Shipley Jr., six years of age, was ring-bearer. Altar decorations consisted of baskets of calla lilies flanked by yellow gladioli with snapdragon backed by green. Other parts of the first floor were decorated with roses, pink peonies and seasonal flowers in color. The bride's travel ensemble was of thistle and beige.Her only ornament was an antique brooch of coral and her flowers were a spray of gardenia and fern. Mr. and Mrs. King will be at home after June 7, in Parkville, Md.
