Mrs. Alice E. Berry, 71, of Kennewick, Washington and formerly of Lengby, died Tuesday, June 19, 1990 in a boating accident on the Klickitat River near Glenwood, Washington. Funeral services were held at the Knosher-Erman Funeral Home in Goldendale, Washington, Saturday, June 23 and on Tuesday, June 26 in the United Methodist Church in Fosston. Interment was in the Fridhem Lutheran Cemetery in Lengby. Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston was in charge of local arrangements. Pallbearers at the service were grandsons George, Thomas, Richard and Daniel Vorderbruggen, Thomas Newland and Michael Larson. Mrs. Berry was born August 3, 1918 in Keyline, Wyoming, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Sutherland. The family moved to Nebraska and later to Minnesota. She was married to George Vorderbruggen who died in 1946. December 22, 1952 she married Barry Berry and they moved from Minnesota to California in 1975 and then to Kennewick in 1984. Surviving are her husband, Barry of Kennewick; five sons, George and Don Vorderbruggen of Bagley, Gary Vorderbruggen of Grand Rapids, John Berry of Sacramento, California and Bill Berry of Goldendale. Others surviving are two daughters, Darlene Larson of Silver Bay and Debra Clausen of Howard Lake; 24 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; three brothers, Cecil and Ivan Sutherland of Bagley and Joe Sutherland of Silver Bay and a sister, Nellie Vorgerbruggen of Bagley. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and a grandson. While living in this area she attended the Fosston United Methodist Church.
