About Alvin Ferdinand Harmsen
Services for Alvin Harmsen, 82, of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Runge Mortuary Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. Mr. Harmsen died Saturday, March 8, 1997, in DeWitt, Iowa.
He had farmed in Cedar County, Iowa, for 33 years, retiring in 1973.
He was born Oct. 22, 1914, in Cedar County. He married Grace Daufeldt in 1937 in Davenport. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Deanna Harmsen, Mediapolis, Iowa, and Betty Ann Harmsen, Omaha, Neb.; sons Robert and Cal, both of Davenport, Gary, Omaha, and Richard, Durant, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harold Harmsen, Tipton, Iowa.
