Alvin L. G. Koeller, 71, of Fairview Heights, IL, born August 25, 1937, in St. Libory, IL, died Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at his residence.

Mr. Koeller was a builder and worked in the construction industry with Carpenters Local 480. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fairview Heights, IL. He was also a member of the Carpenter’s Local 480 in St. Louis for 49 years, the American Legion Post 683 in St. Libory, IL, the Belleville Swansea Moose Lodge 1221, the Belleville Senior Citizens Club, and the American Rifle Association. Alvin was retired from the U.S. Navy Reserves.

Mr. Koeller was preceded in death by his father, Anton Koeller;

and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hugo and Dolores Winschel.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Mary Dolores, nee Winschel, Koeller, whom he married November 13, 1963 in Fayetteville, IL; four daughters, Lisa Koeller of Long Beach, CA, Michelle (Scott) Carroll and Lydia Smith, both of O’Fallon, IL, and Susan (Timothy) Adams of Belleville, IL; eight grandchildren, Melissa and Zachary Carroll, Austin, Kylie, and Landon Smith, and Tyler, Connor, and Hannah Adams; his mother, Eleanore, nee Sandheinrich, Koeller of St. Libory, IL; two sisters and a brother, Arlene (John) Hundelt and Kenneth (Mary) Koeller, both of St. Libory, IL, and Jane (Nick) Borowiak of Venedy, IL; and nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 14, 2008, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL. A Belleville Senior Citizens ritual will be held at 4:30 pm Sunday an American Legion Post 683 ritual will be held at 5:30 pm, and a Belleville-Swansea Moose Lodge ritual will be held at 7:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home.

Funeral procession will leave at 9:30 a.m. Monday, December 15, 2008, from George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fairview Heights, IL, with Father Ray Schultz and Fr. Jim Long officiating.

Burial with military honors will be at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
