About Anan Hall

A Patriot of the American Revolution for CONNECTICUT with the rank of PRIVATE. DAR Ancestor # A049397

Anan Hall served with the Connecticut Continental Line, Revolutionary War, private; service with Captain William Richards, LTC. Prentiss, and also General Huntington's Brigade, Continental Line. No apparent service with any militia or minuteman unit. At the time of service, he was living in New London County, CT.

He was placed on the pension roll #S*W21250, of Ostego County, NY, in 1818, "for service as private in the Connecticut line. He was born in Connecticut; died in Springfield, NY" (Vol. 31, p.165, DAR Lineage books).

Mrs. Alice Brooks Warren, born in Cooperstown, NY, was a member of the DAR, with lineage as follows: great-great-granddaughter of Anan Hall & Mrs. Comfort (Hodge) Hall, who were married in 1781; next, great-granddaughter of Abel Morse and Mrs. Polly "Hall" Morse; next, Granddaughter of William Brooks and Mrs. Hetty (Morse) Brooks; next, daughter of George Brooks & Mrs. Mary L. Brooks; and, Alice, wife of Russel Warren.

Anan qualified for a federal pension for his Rev. War service; after his passing, his widow then received the pension.

DAR Index: Anan Hall, Continental Line, Connecticut; wife: Comfort Hodge.

Another memorial for Anan Hall, citing him as a Revolutionary War veteran, can be found at the nearby Allens Lake Cemetery -- where his daughter Polly (Hall) Morse is buried.

The following women (national numbers, not names) evidently were members of the DAR via Anan's service record: #30472; #40309; #42270; #47435; #47437; #55175; #113538; #163417; #203539; #221405; #315320; #467039; #519004; and, #765949. Most of these are figured through Phoebe Van Brunt, and 3 through Polly Morse.
