About António Floriano de Noronha, (First Goan Chief Justice of the Portuguese State of India)
Dr. António Floriano de Noronha studied law in Portugal and raised to the top of the Portuguese Judiciary. Was appointed as the first Chief Justice of the Portuguese State of India (after the proclamation of the Republic on the 5 October 1910), with jurisdiction over all Portuguese territories in Portuguese India plus Macau and East Timor. His title in Portuguese was "Juiz Desembargador Presidente do Tribunal da Relação de Goa".
Coincidently, the family moved to Panjim and his ancestral house in Carvota, Loutulim, was sold to Camilo António José Ismael Lourenço Gracias, known as José Antonio Ismael Gracias (Senior) and then the same house was inherited by his son Dr. José Antonio Ismael Gracias (Junior) who - COINCIDENTLY - was the very last Chief Justice of the Portuguese State of India ("Juiz Desembargador Presidente do Tribunal da Relação de Goa") from 1958 to 1962.
