<p>According to Bill (Arthur William Towler) Arthur Edwin left Alice Petrov & Ellen Towler and went to Bournemouth with Bill and Mable Skates when Bill was about 3.</p><p><p>Arthur Edwin's half-brothers cut him out of the family business when their father died. Arthur Edwin was penniless and began to sell newspapers outside the family boiler maker business to embarrass his half-brothers. He had a friend break into the factory and steal back his own tools, then left for Australia. On the was his taxi broke down in the Blackwall tunnel, so he missed his sailing. His tools were already on board, Whilst the taxi was being repaired the driver was heard to say it was the easiest pound he had ever earned as Rossetta (an older half-sister) had paid him to break down. Later tey learnt that the shipsank with all hands! In 1908 he landed in Freemantle Australia having worked his passage as a carpenter. Lyndsay, Roland and Arthur worked at Drakes Ltd inBth making ammo boxes. Arthur got himself fired (for smoking) and returned to his own factory. Worked for the MOD at Hurn spray painting plane parts at his factory. Meanwhile he made and sold pegs from dismantled butter boxes.</p><p><p></p></p><p><p>Whilst at Woodgrange he "received" stolen wood from Fred Surley, stolen from Sherry & Haycocks. Both men were caught and sent to prison for 28 days.</p></p><p><p></p></p><p><p>At this time (1939) Joan is in service, Jotce is working in a laundry and Gwen misses school frequently having to stay at home and hlep out.</p></p><p></p>
