About Benjamin Lloyd Roden
Benjamin Roden was an American religious leader and the prime organizer of the Branch Davidian Seventh-day Adventist Association, a religious community founded in 1959 by Ben Roden as an offshoot of the Davidian Seventh-Day Adventist Church, which was itself established by Victor Houteff in the 1930s. (Wikipedia)
Born Jewish, Roden converted to Christianity when he married. He later joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church, from which he was later disfellowshipped due to his involvement with the schismatic Shepherd's Rod movement. In 1959, following another schism, he founded the Branch Davidian Seventh-day Adventist Association. Roden's beliefs and teachings always combined his Jewish background with his adopted Christianity, including his teachings about the importance of Christians observing the Jewish festivals of Purim and Passover.
