Bernard McCauley came from County Court [that probably was meant to read County Cork], Ireland during the Potato Famine, as did his wife Bridget McGreevy. He was 17 when he arrived in the United States.
The couple settled in Ackley, Iowa where he worked on a farm.
He was a veteran of the Spanish American War.
He later bought a Farm in Rockwell, Iowa. The farm was left to Joseph.
David's Portion was cashed used to purchase a home at 1216 S. Georgia, Mason City Iowa.
Due to the fact that they had no daughters, they adoped Pearl who married brother, Joseph McCauley.
