Bertha E. CroxtonLA PRAIRIE, Ill. -Mrs. Bertha E. Croxton, 96, of La Prairie,died at 2 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 29, 1993) in her home.Born Aug. 3, 1897, near Golden, Mrs. Croxton was a daughter of Alfred M. and Cora Adeline Shank Peck. She married J. Dwight Croxton Oct. 19, 1916, in Quincy. He died June 3, 1989.Mrs. Croxton was a member of Shiloh Methodist Church, where she was organist and active in the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Schuyler County Home Extension and had attended Washington School in Huntsville Township.Survivors include four sons, Wallace R., Joel and Robert B., all of La Prairie, and Harold L. of Coopersburg, Pa.; a daughter, Mrs. Leslie (Joan) Long of Sebring, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.Mrs. Croxton was preceded in death by two sons, Byron K. and Billy P.; five brothers; a sister; and a grandson, Jeffrey Croxton.Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Huntsville Methodist Church by the Rev. Jim Jenkins and Dixie Croxton. Burial will be in Huntsville Cemetery.Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday in the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta.Memorials may be made to the Schuyler-Cass Home Health Department.Published in the Quincy Herald Whig, December 30, 1993, page 19
