Berglund, 94, former Calumet resident, died on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 in Sugar Brook Villa, Cohasset.Born March 14, 1917 inMt. Iron, Minn., she was the daughter of Victor and Mary Makela. Bertha was a graduate of the Mt. Iron High School and had worked in a piano factory in DeKalb, Ill., and an airplane factory in Spokane, Wash., prior to her marriage to Joseph D. Berglund on Dec. 15, 1945. Following her marriage, they had lived in rural Deer River until moving to Calumet in 1966. They returned to Deer River in 2000 and Bertha had been a resident of rural Cohasset since 2004.Her parents, Victor and Mary Makela; her husband, Joseph in 2004; a sister, Alice Nevala; and a brother, Ray Makela preceded her in death.Survivors include her sons, Douglas (Cathy Calloway) Berglund of Kalispell, Mont., and David Berglund of Indonesia; grandchildren, Eric, Linnea, Kellen, Stefan, Chelsi, Michelle, and Alexa; and great-grandchildren, Jacob, Lucas, Silas, and Renna.
