Bjan Pakzad was born April 4, 1940, (some sources say 1940) in Tehran and immigrated to the United States in 1973.

His exclusive boutique on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills was established in 1976 and can be visited by “appointment only.” It has been described as “the most expensive store in the world,” with prices for clothing well into five and six figures. Mr. Pakzad always said an air of exclusivity was an effective way to attract the high-end customers he was after.

Mr. Pakzad was also known as a car enthusiast and parked his custom yellow Rolls-Royce on Rodeo Drive. In his 23-car garage in Beverly Hills, according to many accounts, he also had a yellow Bentley, a yellow Ferrari, an Aston Martin, a BMW, a Cadillac. ...

His father was a wealthy industrialist Bjan was sent to school in Switzerland and Italy, where he studied design. For seven years he designed men’s wear in Florence. He opened Bijan after moving to Los Angeles in the early 1970s, and quickly expanded into jewellery, fragrances and sportswear, becoming a millionaire many times over.

He had three children: Daniela Pakzad, by his first marriage, Alexandra and Nicolas Bijan Pakzad, by his second marriage, to Tracy Hayakawa,

Both marriages ended in divorce.
