The three Bryant children are mentioned as being adopted by Atwood and Minnie in the WPA Interview that Minnie did. Also according to another Interview that was done by Julia, they are the children of J.H. Bryant and Susan Jones. Julia said her mother, Susan Jones, was the daughter of Governor Robert Jones and that her mother died when Julia was small.

SERGT BRYANT Dies of Wounds in France MRS. JULIA PHILLIPS, 518 Third Avenue NW, has received an official message stating that her brother, SERGT. CALVIN R. BRYANT of the noted Indian Company with the 36th Division, had died from wounds received in action. The date of his death was not given. A previous notice had stated that he was in the hospital suffering from being gassed. Sergeant Bryant was well known in Carter and Bryan Counties. He played professional baseball with the Texas and Oklahoma League. Before going into the service, he made his home on his farm near Blue. He was with L Company 358th Infantry 90th Division and trained at Camp Travis, but after going overseas, was transferred to the Indian Company with 36th Division.
