About Capt. Richard Ashby, (CSA)
Richard was killed during an engagement with a Union patrol along the Potomac in June 1861. After he had a chance to examine the corpse, Richard's brother, Brig. General Turner Ashby, Jr. was convinced his brother had been bayoneted while trying to surrender. As a result, he came to hate Northerners and desired revenge.
