About Captain Jonathan Sheldon, Sr.
Moved from Northampton to Suffield in 1723 and built the Captain Johnathan Sheldon house, the oldest house in Suffield. He was a soldier in the French and Indian Wars.
Captain Jonathan Sheldon owned about 1,100 acres of the choice land at Suffield and settled each of his six sons on farms along a road named Sheldon Street.
