About Charles Francis Barrett
From Jaime Howley: Known as Francis. Attended St. Joseph's College (Pennsylvania). Did not graduate. Served in WWI. Was a speech writer for a state legislator. Reported to have been bipolar. At some point Grandma and Grandad took him in. He lived in the basement. His brother George was a postman and lived in the attic. The brothers did not get on. It was kept from George that Francis was in the house. And the children were tasked with keeping them apart. Dad would recite a poem of Francis "Oh Where Is Howley's Cow? Down past Glitches, Through fields and ditches. Send for Francis, He knows her prances." Dad knew the whole poem. I only remember this part. At some point, Francis became too much and he was sent away to a Sanitorium..
