According to John Richard Jasper (Charles's son), Charles always claimed to have scaled Mt. Everest. Charles also owned a Stutz Bearcat when he (Charles) was a young man, but John never actually *saw* the car. John saw a picture of the car, but he says his dad was known to "embelish the truth" a bit at times, so he never knew what to believe.
Darlene says the above sounds like fooey to her. She says Charles's only claim to faim was being the possessor of an ostrich egg that he stole from some state park.
