Mother Ayle Ann (Kimple)McFarland died in 1894 when Howard was four years old
Howard died of the 1918 flu epidemic leaving a wife and young daughter Leila, son Howard Woodford was born after the death of his father.The oldest brother George William also died the same year (1918) with the flu, Howard was 28 years old, George W was 45 years old.
