Not much has been known about Christian Falk’s time before he arrived in England. This may not even be his real name.
After years of searching through various Ancestry websites and Norwegian forums I hit rock bottom. It would be easy to adopt some ancestry suggestions of various Falk names that have appeared. I had thought these to be true, but without verification it can not be established. Many were completely incorrect.
After several false leads I began to think I would never learn about Christian Falk. I could not find proof of him before his Marriage certificate in 1868 here in England.
I also did the Ancestry DNA test along with my Mother, my Father Roy Falk having died before I could test him. He and I had started the Ancestry journey together and he had been incredibly curious of his ancestry and loved to hear of any progress I made. He had been told a tale that we had descended from the Vikings. But he didn’t know much more than childhood stories. Sadly he did not live long enough to take part in this part of the search. None the less I persevered believing that he now knew all the answers and that I would have to verify them somehow myself.
Over time and through extensive DNA research using many matches linked to me, and with the help of a keen genealogist Harry Rong from Norway who took up the requests I made for help on many Norwegian forums and websites, he made a breakthrough!
With his amazing patience and avid ancestry detective skills using my DNA, he established a link to a lady in Norway who is the Great Granddaughter of Christian’s sister Kristine. Her name is Grethe Forbregd and she is living in Trondheim Norway.
Christian Falk’s true name has been found to be Iver Einersen Bjaerkestrand from Norway.
Grethe and her family had also been researching their ancestry for years but every time they followed one particular ancestor Iver Einersen, their trail went cold. This was in 1865 about the same time that my trail for Christian began. They had given up on this family member that simply disappeared.
Then I popped up with my DNA!
