About Christopher Leitch, Merchant of Edinburgh
Cristofer (Christopher) was of the family of Carden (Carwarden), and he most probably moved to Edinburgh, after the visitations of Cheshire to the city of Edinburgh around this time.
He moved to Edinburgh just after the reign of Charles I had begun.
His name appears in many of the old records of Edinburgh in the early 17th century.[1]
The particular spelling of the surname seems to have originated with Christopher, although the actual spelling is Lietch (taken from his will).
The Register--1706-1854. Text: Leitch, Cristell, merchant, burgess of Edinburgh. Christopher's first wife, Jonet Robson, died in 1605. He then married Marion Urie.
