Dale C. Basinger, 93

Dale Cleo Basinger, 93, a resident of Linville, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 14, 2016.

Mr. Basinger was born on June 29, 1922 in Wayne County, Ohio and was the son of the late David William and Ella Mae Zurcher Basinger. In 1943 he moved to Virginia to attend E.M.C. On June 19, 1954, he married Evelyn Wenger Basinger. He enjoyed farming, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an avid student of the Bible and his life demonstrated his Christian faith.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children, Carol Wagler and husband Dale, Richard Basinger and wife Miriam, and Philip Basinger and wife Jeanne; grandchildren, Timothy Wagler and wife Kendra, Jennifer Gurr and husband Robert, Natalya Basinger, Andrew Basinger and wife Amanda, Lydia Basinger, Matthew Basinger and wife Karmen, Naomi Basinger, Michael Basinger, and Caleb Basinger; four great-grandchildren; brothers Clair Basinger and Orris Basinger; a sister, Lila Collins; special friends, Jeri and Jessica Denton, and the Roger Wyant family.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Basinger was preceded in death by a sister Elva Hartzler, a brother Lloyd Basinger, and a grandson, Nehemiah Basinger.

A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Greenmount Church of the Brethren, where he was an active member. A private family burial will be held at Lindale Mennonite Cemetery.
