Death & Will
Daniel Littrell Sr. died in 1809 in Lee County, Virginia. His will dated March 22, 1809, was produced in Court August 23, 1809 and proved by the oath of Jacob Crabtree one of the witnesses thereto and continued for further proof (OBK 1,126), and on November 28, 1809 the last will and Testament of Daniel Littrell, deceased was sworn to by Martin Beaty, the Executor. David Chadwell Sr., Henry Yeary, Moses Ball and Oliver Hughes appraised the personal estate and the slaves of Daniel Littrell.
In the name of God Amen. I, Daniel Littrell of the County of Lee and State of Virginia Being sick and weak in Body but of a sound mind and disposing memory for which I thank God calling to mind the uncertainty of human Life and being Desirious to Dispose of all such Worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with, to wit -
First, I Desire the tracts of Land that was conveyed from John Arthur to me be sold Immediately after my Decease at a twelve months Credit and out of the moneys arrising therefrom all my Just Debts and funeral expenses to be paid and the surplus money to be equally divided among my children -
Secondly, I give to my wife Abigail Littrell the tract of land whereon I now live and all the perishable part of my estate During her natural Life or widowhood, except my one two year old Horse Colt which I give to my Son William Littrell and after her Decease or marriage to be sold and equally Divided among my children, excepting a childs part for her in case of marriage.
And lastly, I Do hereby constitute and appoint my wife Abigail Littrell and Mack Sumate executors of this my last will and testament.
In Witness whereof I have Hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 22 Day of March in the Year 1809.
