@REPO1@ Conrad Emery and His Decensdants Frederic B. Emery, M.D. 1970, Unqiue Publishing Service Conrad Emery and His Decensdants Y Y Y pg. 137 was born in New Jersey presumably in Lebanon Township, Hunterdon co., N.J. on January 4, 1780. He was married in 1800 to Edith Fisher, daughter of Philip and Ameila (Brock) FIsher. THis marriage is supposedly recorded at a German Lutheran CHurch near Harrisurg, Pa.
David and Edith Emery settled in Pennsylvania and their first child was born in Northumberland county. He may have gone to western Pennsylvania with his father, since his son Frederick was born in Mercer county in 1808. In about 1820 the family moved to Ashland co., Ohio and in 1834 removed to Illinois, settling October 16, 1834, in Canton TOwsnhip, FUlton co., Ill. with their first five children. referenc: History of FUlton co., Ill pg. 549 (CHapman, 1879) Records of Mrs. WIlliam Edward EMery, Madison, WIsc. Affidavit made by Matilda Fisher Jacobs , Shelbina, Mo. March 3, 1910 Records of Forest Emery, La Fayette, Ill., letter dated Oct. 1934
David Fisher Emry came to this county, bringing a family of 5 children, Oct. 16, 1834. His children were Azillah, David F., Matilda, Henry and Amelia. (children born in Illinois= John, Frederick W., Sarah, Lucretia) Edith Fisher was his wife. She was born near Philadelphia, Pa., and was married in the year 1800. Mr. E. was of German, and his wife of German-English descent.
Their son David F., who is today, as he has been for many years, prominently identified in the history of the county, resides in this township and is engaged in farming. He is one of the oldest surveyors in the county, and perhaps none have surveyed more land than he. He takes especial pains and pride in preserving statistics, etc., and had a most valuable collection in his residence when it took fire and burned to the ground. The family was away from home at the time. He is a pleasing writer, and a good logician. He is identified with the Fulton County Fair Association at present. (History of Fulton County, C. C. Chapman, 1879, page 549, Canton Township section, submitted by Danni Hopkins)* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Jan 11 2021, 16:57:42 UTC
