Obituary from The Worcester Telegram & Gazette (MA) - Wednesday, November 20, 1996: GARDNER - David J. Grigalunas, 62, of 63 Parker St., formerly of Orange, a retired chef, died Monday at the West Roxbury Veteran's Hospital after an illness.
He leaves two sisters, Aldona Girardi of Athol and Marion Rapsis of Chamblee, Ga.; nieces and nephews. He was born in Athol, son of Louis S. and Mary (Balchunas) Grigalunas, and lived most of his life in Orange before moving to Gardner in 1970. He graduated from Mahar Regional High School in Orange in 1952. He was a Korean War Air Force veteran.
Mr. Grigalunas was a chef in the food service industry in the Worcester and Boston areas for many years, retiring 26 years ago due to a disability.
The funeral will be held Saturday from J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Athol, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 105 Main St., Athol. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol. A calling hour will be from 9 a.m. to the time of the Mass Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of St. Francis of Assisi Church, 105 Main St., Athol 01331 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
