About Denise Elizabeth May Mclaglen
By 1959 she was appearing in the musical Gypsy as a showgirl but, given her knack with animals, she was also responsible for the menagerie that enlivened the cast, led by the legendary Ethel Merman. One of them, a monkey, was put into Denise's care for a weekend out of town. When they got back to Manhattan by train, he escaped and she found him sitting on a fire hydrant. She picked him up, whereupon he relieved himself all over her. When Ethel Merman saw Denise she said, My dear girl, you look as though you've had a helluva night out.
