About Dr. Daniel Wilder
On 17 April 1834, Daniel Wilder married Mary Ann Goss. “[Daniel Wilder] and [ Mary Ann Goss] were married in her home in Montague City or in the tavern (later the home of B.N. Farren) where the wedding party danced all night and afterwards the bride and groom took the early morning stage to Boston where they were to make their home.” -- Ella Hazelton 1949.
In 1835, Daniel and his wife were living in Boston. "They became actively interested in the abolition of slavery and were in Faneuil Hall in Boston the night that William Lloyd Garrison was dragged out and through the streets by a mob, October 21, 1835. Grandpa and Grandma escaped from the mob by going behind that stage where they had been seated with other Abolitionist sympathizers and into an alley behind the hall"...Ella Hazelton, 1949.

In the late 1840's, Daniel Wilder became a partner in a furniture store business selling "piano fortes". His partner and cousin, Ephraim Rugg had trader for a longtime as a maker of pianos. Wilder at the same time began studying medicine with a Doctor in Springfield. and then entered the Homoeopathic Medical College of Philadelphia. Upon graduation, he opened a practice in New Bedford, MA.

Clarke.) Dr. Daniel Wilder and Ephraim Rugg were first cousins Dr. Daniel Wilder and Ephraim Rugg of Montague were first cousins. Daniel Wilder’s mother was Lucy Rugg born 22 June 1777 in Lancaster. She was the daughter of Daniel Rugg. Dr. Wilder’s father, David Wilder, married Lucy Rugg on 9 Jan 1800. [Mass B&C, 1639-1915]

Ephraim Rugg (Sr.) who was born 2 May 1779 in Lancaster was the son of the same Daniel Rugg. [Mass B&C, 1639-1915]. So Ephraim Rugg (Sr.) and Lucy Rugg were brother and sister. His son, also named Ephraim Rugg, was born on 13 Dec. 1816 and later on 12 Oct. 1840 married Charlotte J. Goss. Thus, when Daniel Wilder married Mary Ann Goss (17 April 1834) and Ephraim Rugg married her sister Charlotte J. Goss (in 1840), two first cousins married two sisters.
