About Dr. Edward Warwick Pinkham, Sr.

Dr. Edward Warwick Pinkham, a retired New York gynecologist died at his home in Sarasota FL August 30, 1960. His age was 90. Dr. Pinkham was attending physician at the Metropolitan Opera House from 1925 until his retirement in 1934. He returned to active duty as a physician in World War II, taking charge of a hospital center at Joue-les-Tours, France. He held the renk of colonel in the ArmyMedical Corps. A veteran also of the Spanish-American War, in which he was a first-lieutenant and assistant surgeon, Dr. Pinkham received two Silver Stars for gallantry in action in the Philippines. He received his A.B. at Harvard in 1892 and two years later got a Ph.B. at Oberlin College. In 1895 he received his M.D. at the Harvard Medical School. Dr. Pinkham served as a Professorof Gynecology at Post-Graduate (now University) Hospital and later was attending surgeon at Woman's and City Hospitals. Survivors include two sons, Capt. Edward W. Pinkham, U.S.N., and Richard A.R. Pinkham; a brother, Joseph, and two sisters Mrs. Charles H. Merrill and Mrs. Raoul Hellmer.
