About Dr. John Hare, DCL
The Warde pedigree identifies him as a Doctor of Civil Law. In both the Warde and Cholmeley pedigrees he is referred to as "of Homersfield". In "Burke's Extinct and Dormant Baronetages" (1841) it is said that he "became" of Stow Bardolph after inheriting it from his brother. The manor was probably one of the properties which he bought jointly with his brother Sir Nicholas (as mentioned in Sir Nicholas's history of parliament biography). The History of parliament biographies of two of John's sons leave no doubt that Sir Nicholas was their uncle.
