Tne Biographical Dictionary of the SC Senate has this: Morgan Brown, son of Morgan Brown (1719-1809) & Elizabeth Clothier, was born 13 Jan. 1758 in Anson Co. NC. Trained as a physician, but never finished due to Rev. War. Enlisted in Third Regiment of SC under Col. Wm. Thomson. Fought at the Battle of Fort Moultrie (June 1776). Promoted to lieutenant, served with Ninth Regiment of NC as recruiting officer. After the war he settled in Cheraw Dist. SC by 1783. Served in the SC Senate 1789-1794. Married 22 Jan. 1784 at Long Bluff to Elizabeth Little, daughter of Wm. Little & Caroline Stewart. Their children included William Little Brown (1789-1830), Elizabeth (md Wm. Thompson), Sarah (md Frederick W. Huling), Rebecca (md Charles Neal), Morgan W. Brown, & Catherine S. (md Wm. A. Cook). In 1795 Morgan Brown moved his family to Montgomery Co. TN.
