Peter was the son of John & Jane (Howell) Evans Jr. He was one of six children.

During the Revolutionary War Peter was appointed a commissioner for the purchase of supplies for the Continental Army.

On 22 Apr 1761 Peter married Rachel Evans, the daughter of David Evans, (there is no known connection to her Evans line).

The couple had 6 childen,
