About Dr. Robert Norris, M.D., Justice for Darlington
Born probably Baltimore co. He was a mariner and settled Georgetown, S.C. They located in Cheraw Dist., S.C. where he engaged in faming. He studied medicine later & became a practicing physician. They resided in the section that was on the line of Chesterfield Darlington Dist. later. Some of his land was in the Darlington Dist. In "Old Cherawa" by Gregg pf. 351 is found an item of interest "at a meeting of the legislature Jan. 1790 Henry Cannon and Charles Evans appear to have been the only members present from St. Davids. On the 20th of January the following county court justices were appointed for Darlington - Samuel Mathias, Henry Cannon and Dr. Rob't Norris". Dr. Norris died during the year of 1790 & before the census was taken as Edith, his widow is listed as living in Cheraw dist. She was residing in Chesterfield dist. in 1800; d. at the home of her son, Thomas in Horry Dist. over 80 years of age.
