About Earl David Schwartz
Earl David Schwartz, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away December 23, 2012. Born in LaSalle, IL to Rebecca and Samuel Schwartz, he was raised in LaSalle and at 15 years old when his father passed away, he moved with his mother to Chicago to be near his brother, Philip Schwartz (Idelle) and sister Lottie Lamm (Morris). Earl graduated from Marshall High School in Chicago. He attended the University of Chicago. He was drafted into the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army as a light mortar crewman flying in gliders and served in Europe from May, 1944 to April 1946. After he left the Army he continued his education in Accounting and graduated from Roosevelt University in Chicago. At Roosevelt, he met his wife of 62 years, June Gilden. Earl became at CPA and started his practice with his partner of 25 years, Gerald Bayer. Earl specialized in taxes and his practice thrived. He lived with June and his children in Chicago and its suburbs until December, 1979 when they moved to Arizona. Earl did some CPA work, but started a real estate company, Schwartz Realty Company, which he was involved in buying and selling large parcels of land in Arizona. One of his finest achievements was selling the land to the City of Scottsdale which is now part of the Gateway Preserve in North Scottsdale. Earl was a board member of Jewish National Fund and other Jewish Philanthropies. He enjoyed playing bridge and was always taking classes and learning. Thank-you to the caregivers, nurses, and staff at Silverado Senior Living for their care this past year. Earl is predeceased by his wife, June Schwartz who passed away in July, 2012.
