Geo. Pinkerton, 43, and his wife Harriet C., 30, had been married a year. She had one child, a son who was living with them: Edward King, 8, b. Dec. 1891. George Pinkerton was born in Pennsylvania Aug. 1856; he was a confectioner and owned a mortgaged home. Harriet was born in England, July 1869 and had been in the U.S. for 21 years. 1910 U.S. Census: 539 King Street, York
Edward M. King, 18, lived with his stepfather George M. Pinkerton, 53, and wife Harriet C., 39. They had been married 10 years, his first and her second marriage. She had one child, one living, certainly Edward. Pinkerton was born in Pennsylvania of parents also born in Pennsylvania. He was self-employed as a merchant of Creamettes [an ice cream treat] and owned a house free from mortgage. Harriet was born in England, immigrated in 1878. There was a Charles Pinkerton, 49, and his wife Charlotte on the same page, lived on Market Street.]
In 1917, Edward M. King, born 5 December 1891 lived at 254 (sic) South Albermarle Street. He was born in York, Penna and had a wife and child, and worked as a piano turner. 1920 - 712 East Wallace Street:
Edward, 27, and Anna, 26, King lived at 712 East Wallace Street in a home they owned (mortgaged). He was a clerk who worked for a roofing company. He reported that he and his father were born in Pennsylvania, his mother born in England. She and herparents were born in Pennsylvania. Their children were Helen, 4, and Edward, Jr., 1, when the census was taken on January 1. [citation: 1920 U.S. Census, City of York, 1st Precinct, York Co., Pa., roll 1668, p. 16A.] Beware: There were eight men named Edward King in Pennsylvania in this census, more in Maryland and Virginia.

Edward M. King, 38, a salesman at a paper mill, and his wife Anna, 36, owned their home at 1407 First Avenue in Spring Garden Township. Hellen K. was 14 and Edward M., Jr., was 11.

George Pinkerton, 24, a huckster, and Charles M. Pinkerton, 20, a chain maker, lived with their parents Levi and Augustina Pinkerton. Levi was a 65 year old ?smoker.? She was 63, keeping house. Helen, dau., 11, b. Pa., Mar 1889. They also had four boarders who don't appear to be related, but may be.
