Birth: May 27, 1734 Glastonbury Hartford County Connecticut, USA Death: Apr. 24, 1814 Glastonbury Hartford County Connecticut, USA

Elisha Goodrich, s. of William Goodrich and Rachel Savage, b. May 27, 1734 of record at Glastonbury, Conn. Whereas Lafayette W. Case's 1889 pub. "Goodrich Family in America" [hereafter Case] claims Elisha d. Oct. 2, 1789, he d. per his gravestone Apr. 24, 1814, Æ 80.

Elisha m. his cousin Lucy Goodrich, dau. of Dea. David Goodrich and Sarah Edwards, b. Feb 24, 1737/38 of record at Glastonbury. She d. Aug. 17, 1807 at Glastonbury, Æ 70 (g.s.).

When and where Elisha and Lucy married is not of record, but it was not on Mar. 14, 1754 as claimed by Case. Donald Lines Jacobus in his 1952 "Hale, House and Related Families" [hereafter Jacobus] suggested it may have been Mar. 14 1758. For perspective of the former date, see wife Lucy's memorial.

Elisha was a resident of Glastonbury's 1st Society, or the jurisdiction of the Glastonbury 1st Cong. Church, whose marriage records are lost. Elisha and Lucy's marriage does not appear in the published Glastonbury Vital Records.

According to Case, there were ten children of the family, but not necessarily the same ten children detailed by Jacobus. Jacobus also relied on the birth dates reported by Case, but none of the children appear in the Glastonbury vital records. Fortunately, they were all baptized at the Glastonbury 1st Church; a transcription of that church's baptism and death records is held by the Connecticut Historical Society and the pertinent portions were provided to the memorialist by a fellow Goodrich family descendant. Based on those records, there actually were eleven children of the family and in multiple instances the date of birth stated by Case is actually a baptism date, but not all were within the year stated by Case.

Following is the Jacobus version of the Elisha Goodrich family with the addition of the eleventh child and the respective dates of baptism. The annotations in brackets [ ] are by the memorialist:
