FUNERAL OF MRS. PETERS TOMORROW

The body of Mrs. Elizabeth Peters, who died Wednesday evening at 10:30 o'clock at her home in Kansas City, will be brought to Emporia this evening on train No. 7, and the funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of her son, W. O. Peters, 1014 State street. The funeral will be conducted by Rev. W. C. Macurdy and the interment will be made in Maplewood cemetery.

Mrs. Peters' maiden name was Elizabeth Hopkins, and she was born in South Wales, June 16, 1830. She came to Kansas, with her husband Richard Peters, in 1876, and the family settled in Lyon county on a farm six and one-half miles northwest of Emporia, where they lived a number of years. They afterwards moved to Emporia, and Mr. Peters died here in 1894. None years ago, Mrs. Peters moved to Kansas City with her children. Mrs. Peters was an energetic woman, and her death Wednesday came suddenly from an attack of heart trouble. During her life in Emporia, she was a member of the First Methodist church, and after her removal to Kansas City, transferred her membership to the Bales Methodist church. Her fidelity to her church and her religion was one of the distinguishing traits of her character, and this she carried out fully in her home life.

Mrs. Peters leaves seven children, four sons and three daughters. They are Richard and Griffith, of Kansas City; David, of Chanute; W. O., of Emporia; Mrs. Kirtland, Misses Margaret and Elizabeth, of Kansas City.

W. O. Peters went to Kansas City Wednesday night, and will return this evening, accompanying the body.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Nov 4 2018, 0:38:51 UTC
