About Elizabeth Frances Wyrick

Elizabeth Frances Myers was born 01 Sep 1823 in Upperville,Fauquier Co/ Loudoun Co., VA to John G. Myers and Elizabeth Frances Francis. She married Jacob Wyrick 1 Nov 1847 in Van Buren Co., IA. Her obituary: Eastern Oregonian Mrs. Wyrick a True Pioneer Helix, Oregon February 13, 1911

Mrs. E. F. Wyrick of this place died Saturday as a result of a stroke of paralysis from which she had suffered since last October.
Deceased was 87 years old last September and was truely a pioneer woman, having spendt her entire life on the western edge of civilization. Leaving her birthplace, Upperville, Louden County, Virginia, at an early age in company with her parents, she settled at Franksport, Indiana, then considered the western goal of white man's ambition, where she married Jacob Wyrick in 1847. From here they went to Shelby County, Missouri. Afterwards they moved to Monroe County, Iowa, which was then considered too far isolated from civilization to be of any value.
In March 1880, she came to Umatilla County by way of rail to San Francisco, sailship to The Dalles, and stage from there to Walla Walla. That summer she settled on a preemption eight miles west of that place. This land she still owned, also a winter home at Red Bluff, California, and has been a continours resident of this place excepting five years spent in Adams County, Washington, during the early homestead excitement of 1890-1895.
She is survived by four out of eleven children, namely Thomas Wyrick of Luccabee, Oklahoma, Della T. Hammond and John F. Wyrick of this place, and Hannah Bartlett of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Also 33 grandchildren and 29 great-grand children.
She was temporarily buried in the Helix cemetery and later will be taken to Moravia, Iowa, her old home, for burial.
