Ellsworth C. Shoup, 79, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2000.

He was born Jan. 26, 1921, in Pittsburgh, PA. Ellsworth graduated from East Technical High School in Cleveland and attended the University of Akron. He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in 1984 with over 42 years service. He was a veteran of the Marines, serving during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Ellsworth was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, a life member of Knights of Columbus Council 547, where he was a Past Grand Knight, a life member of Msgr. Joseph O'Keefe 4th Degree Assembly; he was a Past District Deputy, Past Diocesan Ceremonial Director, and Past Diocesan Auxiliary Chairman with the State Knights of Columbus. He was a member of Goodyear's Squadron Alumni Association, 25-Year Club, and Foreman's Club. He received the Akron Central YMCA Norm Elder Award in 1972. Ellsworth was also a life member of V.F.W. Post 3383.

Mr. Shoup is survived by wife, Ann; children, Ellannye Shoup (Stephen Harding), Olive (Dale) McKissick, Jo Shoup (Gerard Colant), John (Kim) Shoup; grandchildren, Noelle and Marco Colant; brother, Ralph R. Shoup; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 9:30 a.m., at the Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home, 95 W. Waterloo Rd.; and at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church. Interment services to be announced. The family will receive friends Tuesday, 4 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home, where a Knights of Columbus Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Endowment Fund, 433 Mission Dr., Akron, Ohio 44301; or the Hospice Care Center, 3340 Ridgewood Rd., Fairlawn, Ohio 44333.
