• (Elgin Echo - Elgin, Iowa - Jul 24, 1958 page 6) Mrs. William Wedo received word early Sunday morning of the serious illness of her mother, Mrs. Elsie Kobriger, in Waterloo. Mrs. Kobriger had a heart attack late Saturday evening and all the children were called to her bedside. Mr. and Mrs. William Wedo and Mrs. Arnold Tieskotter of Harmony, Minn., left early Sunday morning and returned home late Sunday evening. Mrs. Wedo and Mrs. Tieskotter returned to Waterloo on Monday evening to Stay with their mother a couple days. Mrs. Kobriger celebrated her 83rd birthday last October.

OBITUARY: (Waterloo Daily Courier - Waterloo, Iowa - Jun 03, 1959 page 2) WATERLOO DEATHS - Mrs. Elsie Kobriger, 82, of Castalia, died at 9 a. m. Wednesday of a heart ailment at the home of a son, Donald, of 140 Brown Ave., Evansdale, with whom she resided for the past year. A resident of Castalia most of her life, Mrs. Kobriger was born Elsie McMartin Oct. 7, 1876, a daughter of Daniel and Julia McMartin. She was married April 19, 1900 (this is wrong year), to George Kobriger. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Castalia. Surviving are two sons Donald, at Evansdale, and Daniel of Davenport, and five daughters; Mrs. Florence Nelson and Mrs. Clarence Hoopman of Decorah, Mrs. William Wedo and Mrs. Elmer Hager, both of Castalia, and Mrs. Arnold Tieskotter, Preston, Minn. There are also 25 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, as well as two brothers, Elmer McMartin of Castalia, and Fran McMartin of Bridgewater, S. D. She was preceded in death by her husband, two Sisters, three brothers and parents. The body will be taken late Wednesday from the Evansdale Chapel of Memories to the Schlutte Funeral Home at Postville. Funeral services and burial will be at Castalia.
