Emily Rosella Rufener

STERLING -- Emily R. Horst, 82, Sterling died early Saturday morning, May 9, 2009, at her home.

She was born March 29, 1927, in Sterling to John and Margaret (Klotzle) Rufener and was a homemaker. She was a member of East Chippewa Church of the Brethren and the Women's Fellowship of the church. She also was a member of Georgetown Homemakers Club. Emily graduated from Rittman High School in the class of 1946 and enjoyed her grandchildren and cooking.

Surviving are her husband, Wayne W. Horst; sons, Dennis (Shirley) Horst of Smithville, David (Cinda) Horst of Sterling, Dean (Esther) Horst of Sterling, and Duane (Bethany) Horst of Smithville; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Pearl) Rufener of Smithville; sister, Leona (Lee) Shipe of Rittman. Her parents, and brothers, Freeman and Wayne Rufener, died previously.

Services will be held Tuesday, May 12, at 11 a.m. at East Chippewa Church of the Brethren, 7207 Chippewa Road, Orrville with the Rev. Delbert Kettering officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, May 11, at the church and also one hour before services Tuesday.
