Federic "Uncle Fed" Messer, a North Carolina native who was born in 1792 and died in 1907, at 114 years old. He is widely known the "man who lived to see three different centuries."

Brenda Messer, the official Messer family, historian, understood this decades ago. I believe she worked out Christian Sergeant Messer’s children. From the census records it seems his sons include Frederick Messer, Thomas Messer, George Messer, David Messer and Christian Sergeant Messer Jr., as well as a John Messer and Michael Messer of Haywood who were different men than the Hawkins county sons of the first Christian Messer.
