Florence "Jody" Marie Bruce (Neptune)

Florence M. "Jody" Bruce, 80, of Tampa, Fla., passed away Friday (Dec. 16, 2011). Born Florence Marie Neptune on April 4, 1931, in Fairmont, Jody was the daughter of the late Alma Kopp Neptune and the late Harry Alford Neptune, both of Marion County. Jody was a 1949 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School. She married Thomas W. Bruce, and they relocated to Ohio in 1956, eventually settling in Westlake, Ohio, until 1980, when they moved to Tampa, Fla., where they were currently residing. In addition to her beloved husband of 59 years, Thomas W. Bruce Jr., Jody is survived by four children, Sharon R. Wood of Colorado, Thomas W. Bruce III of North Carolina, Perry W. Bruce of Oklahoma and Tammy L. Kelly of Florida; 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and her cherished sister, Martha Alice Brewster of Virginia. Jody's brother Robert Neptune, of Nebraska, preceded her in death. Friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Mary Ellen Finegan officiating.
