About Frank Keeney
Frank Keeney, of Lewiston, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, at his much-loved northern Idaho property, just six days after his 70th birthday.
He was born Feb. 16, 1948, to Joe and Donna Keeney, in Prairie City, Ore. His younger years were spent in Oregon, and in 1964 the family relocated to northern Idaho. He was a 1966 graduate of Pierce High School.
He worked several jobs, including log scaler for Potlatch Forests Inc. in Headquarters, and commercial fishing in the Cook Inlet in Alaska. He was a 1973 graduate of Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston with a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary social science. While attending college, he met and married Helen Seubert on Feb. 7, 1970, in Ferdinand. Together they raised three daughters, Kristin Kerri, Julie Jo and Andrea Renee, in their Lewiston home. He worked for several local logging operators before owning his own business.
It was after spending many years in the Floodwoods and Smith Ridge area near Clarkia that he bought his property. Here he spent most of his retirement years working in his shop with his faithful four-legged fur companion, Sosh.
Frank is survived by his wife of 48 years, Helen; daughters Kristin (Rod, Morgan and Hayden) of Kendrick, Julie (Matt and Ryen) of Clarkston, and Andrea (Bryon, Alexandria, Tanner, Kyler and Jacob) of Pomeroy. Also surviving him are his mother, Donna Thomason of Clarkston; and his sister, Ruth McCaroll of Arizona. Frank was preceded in death by his father, Joe Keeney, and sisters Sandra and Corla.
He was a member of the Associated Logging Contractors, the Clarkston Moose and Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Anyone who wishes may make a donation in his name to Helping Hands Rescue.
A private burial has already taken place.
