About G. Monty Manibog
A Filipino wrestler, he competed at the Helsinki Summer Olympics in 1952.
In 1976 he was elected to a seat at the Monterey Park City Council, becoming the first elected Asian-American in Southern California. He would serve in this capacity until 1988, with several stints as mayor (this position is rotated amongst the council members).
